SSP 2007 turned out to be "nirvana" for imagers. The nights were dark, power was available to run equipment and computers, people were willing to share techniques and tools, and there was an imaging contest that offered recognition. Daily awards were made for the best image and that imager was provided with a large, high quality printout of his or her image.

The winning imagers and the imager who took them (along with their setup) can be seen on the "Awards" Page.

In 2008, we will again hold an imagers contest. The rules for this contest will be similar to that of the 2007 contest. The draft rules are:

Tha daily contest will take place Tuesday through Saturday (for images taken the night before).

1. Non-imager volunteers will be asked to judge the daily entries. A list of potential judges will be compiled (that should grow as more people arrive) and names will be picked at random every day (the evening of the day before the judging). If you want to volunteer to be a judge, please include that information with your registration details.

2. Entrants must submit entries on something that can be read on a laptop computer - floppy, CD, SD card (a flash drive will also be made available).

3. Entries are to be submitted by 1:30 p.m. and will be viewed by the panel of three judges.

4. Each judge picks their favorite.

5. If all or two out of three judges pick the same entry, that entry is the winner. If not, the judges will rank the entries, with 3 points awarded for the best entry, two for second-best and one for third best. Points are added up and the winner is the entry with the most points.

6. A Grand Prize Winner will be chosen from the daily submissions on Saturday afternoon by a panel of 5 imagers who are not daily contest winners.

7. A list of potential imaging targets can be found here.
